21 Accutane acne pills down.. and about 161 more pills to go, before I’ve finished my acne treatment. Hopefully my first and only round of this treatment.
I haven’t seen any drastic changes from last week to this week, almost not enough to even write about, but I’m going to share what’s changed and the side effects as usual.
The Acne Changes and Updates
Once you scroll down and see the picture comparisons you’ll see the big change from week one to week four, which I’m extremely happy about. I’m so happy with the results so far and am super excited to see what my skin will look like in 6 months.
I have gotten a couple more pimples on my forehead though and near the left side of my jaw area. One pimple has situated itself right above my lip too, which is very annoying. Just recently, like today.. I got a pimple near the top of my chin, right under my lip. It’s not really noticeable unless you look close. Can someone explain to me why the ones near the lip area hurt the most? Is it because the skin is thinner there? I have no idea, but that would be my assumption.
I totally forgot to mention blackheads in my other updates. I have a bunch of them on my nose, under my eyes and on my forehead. They haven’t improved or gotten worse so there isn’t too much to say about them. The blackhead peal off masks are so interesting to watch on Youtube and I really want to try one. Or I could DIY one.. I’ve seen a bunch of tutorials on how to do it, but the majority of them include Elmer’s Glue , and I’m not sure if I want to put that on my face!?
I’m super happy about my neck and back because they’ve both cleared up very well. I barely have any blemishes there anymore. They’ll probably clear up in the next couple of weeks if I continue having improvements. My shoulders have recently gotten a little worse. A couple of pimples right on the edges of my shoulder, but nothing major. They’ll be gone really soon.
Dry dry dry lips. It’s gotten to the point, where if I don’t apply my cream once every hour (at the MINIMUM) that I got from the pharmacy, my lips will start cracking right away. I usually switch off between the cream from the pharmacy and my Burt’s Bees Lip balm. The cream from the pharmacy doesn’t taste like anything or smell like anything, therefore I really like using the honey flavour from Burt.
The lips are the only part of my body that have gotten noticeably dry. The aches and pain in my muscles and joints especially in my back have gotten better. Still not feeling completely comfortable, but slowly getting better.
It’s hard to determine whether or not the medication gives me certain side effects or if it’s something that’s just normal. I mean I get about 7 to 7.5 hours of sleep every night and I still feel tired sometimes throughout the day. Is it the Accutane that’s making me tired or is that normal? I question the same with my vision, that recently got worse.
Week 1 vs. week 4 comparison
Whenever I look at these selfies, I just cringe. They’re not pleasing to look at, mostly because of the blemishes but also because of my face expression.
You can see that the accutane really helped clear up the spots underneath my eyes, cheeks and my forehead. If you look really closely you’ll notice the blackheads that still sit deep in my skin. I try my best not to touch them, but it’s so hard. Trust me, if you have lots of blackheads you’ll relate to the struggle of not being allowed to touch your face. It’s so hard.
I’m happy that I’ve been seeing changes in such a short amount of time and it’ll only go up from here.. I hope! I’m going to the dermatologist on Friday for another check up. She’ll be taking my blood to test if there are any problems with my liver and blood.
I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading my updates, and stay tuned for next weeks update… a full month on the Accutane acne treatment.. Crazy!
